We will not be meeting in April. However, included in this issue are ways to stay involved and informed about work supporting our immigrant neighbors.

In this issue:

  • Casa Allies Coalition
  • Emergency Mutual Aid Fund
  • Benefit Concert, April 27th
  • Article, the cost of deporting one immigrant
  • Next NAIJTF meeting, May 19th
  • Keep Updated

Casa Allies is a newly formed coalition of justice organizations based in MetroWest, united in support of the MetroWest Worker Center (Casa) and the immigrant communities it serves. The group has been holding bi-weekly meetings to keep allies informed and actively engaged in advocating for and supporting their immigrant neighbors. Casa Allies meetings include:

  • Updates from Casa leaders on current situations, emerging needs, and volunteer opportunities
  • Information on specific accompaniment requests, with a chance to sign up for assistance.
  • Ways to advocate relevant legislation.

The next meeting of Casa Allies is this Thursday, April 10, 5:30-6:15 on Zoom. Please reach out to allies@mwc-casa.org to receive a link to join this meeting or to join the email list for information about the bi-weekly meetings, training opportunities, or accompaniment opportunities. Casa Allies will also meet in two weeks: April 24th, 5:30-6:15 on Zoom.

The Metrowest Worker Center-(Casa) Emergency Mutual Aid Fund

The Metrowest Worker Center (Casa del Trabajador/Casa do Trabalhador) has been on the frontlines providing legal and other financial support, as well as care for families who have had loved ones snatched up by ICE in recent weeks.

One Casa ally and a leader in the Ecuadorian community in Milford was pulled over, detained by ICE, and is now separated from his four US citizen children. A van with 5 workers from Metrowest was pulled over by police in Maine, held for 2 hours at the side of the road until ICE showed up, and put in detention. Casa is assisting in these cases and others.
If you are able to help support this work, NAIJTF had launched a fundraiser with Casa, which will be up only until May 31st (UPDATE: date has since been extended!): https://fundrazr.com/casafund2025

On a more joyful note: You are invited to a Benefit Concert for our immigrant neighbors on Sunday afternoon, April 27, 2025, in Framingham. Stay tuned for more details.
