Needham Select Board Approves Policy for Police Practices and Engagement re. Immigration Law
On April 15, the Needham Select Board approved Policy SB-ADMIN-012: Town Practices Applicable to Federal Immigration Law, and Town Engagement with Federal Immigration Officials and Enforcement. The policy seeks to ensure that cooperation with ICE does not exceed what is strictly necessary and to provide clarity for police officers and the public about what to expect with regard to dealing with federal immigration enforcement activity in Needham.
NAIJTF applauds the Select Board and the Police Department for creating and carefully considering the policy.
The Select Board discussed the policy at its 3/24/2026 meeting, which can be viewed here, and voted to approve it at its 4/15/2026 meeting.
