SUMMARY:Protest the Rollback of DEI Initiatives
DESCRIPTION:Join the nationwide economic blackout as a response to the rollback of diversity\, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives sparked by the federal government. The People’s Union originated from grassroots efforts of Americans looking to regain control over corporate influence. \nWhen President Donald Trump reentered office last month\, one of his first calls to action was to end several of the DEI initiatives in the federal government. He mandated in an executive order that funds could be frozen for companies that do not comply. He also outlawed any messaging that promotes inclusion-based language. \nThe orders have caused PBS to close its DEI office\, while major companies like Amazon\, Target and Google are taking steps to dissolve DEI initiatives. \nDuring this one-day Economic Blackout\, participants are pledging to not make any purchases either online or in brick-and-mortar stores. \nThe People’s Union is targeting Amazon\, Walmart and Best Buy\, but the group is also asking boycotters to refrain from spending money on fast food or gas\, as well. \nIf consumers must make purchases\, they are asked to buy only from small\, local businesses. The People’s Union originated from grassroots efforts of Americans looking to regain control over corporate influence. \nThe 24 hour Economic Blackout\n\nAs our first initial act\, we turn it off.  \nFor one day we show them who really holds the power \nWHEN: \nThursday February 27th from Midnight till Friday The 28th Midnight \n(A full 24 hours of the 28th) \n12:00 AM to 12:00 AM \nWHAT NOT TO DO: \nDo not make any purchases \nDo not shop online\, or in-store \nNo Amazon\, No Walmart\, No Best Buy \nNowhere! \nDo not spend money on: \nFast Food \nGas \nMajor Retailers \nDo not use Credit or Debit Cards for non essential spending \nWHAT YOU CAN DO: \nOnly buy essentials of absolutely necessary  \n(Food\, Medicine\, Emergency Supplies) \nIf you must spend\, ONLY support small\, local businesses. \nSPREAD THE MESSAGE \nTalk about it\, post about it\, and document your actions that day! \nWHY THIS MATTERS! \n~ Corporations and banks only care about their bottom line. \n~ If we disrupt the economy for just ONE day\, it sends a powerful message. \n~ If they don’t listen (they wont) we make the next blackout longer (We will) \nThis is our first action. \nThis is how we make history.  \nFebruary 28th \nThe 24 Hour Economic Black Out Begins. \n\nSource: Newsweek\, jointhepeoplesunion.com
